Ever since I was a little girl I always liked to be in the kitchen spending my time cooking or baking. It could be my kitchen, my grandma’s kitchen, my parents’ kitchen or at a friend’s. Both of my grandmas (may they both rest in peace and love), my mother and I all share a love of baking. One of my favorite desserts that my grandma Joan made was peach cobbler. Her peach cobbler was a simple treat to make. I remember vividly her reciting the recipe by heart as she sat on her front porch swing on a sunny day. Her recipe is still in my head and I never wrote it down. I also remember as a teenager  watching her in amazement in her small warm kitchen, whipping egg whites to create meringue to go on top of her sweet lemon meringue pie, with the sun shining on her hands through the window.

My grandma Revordia, my mom and I share this one same trait- “Have the food ready by the time your family members arrive”. I loved my grandma Revordia’s pound cake, it is crusty on the outside and the inside is moist, dense and delicious. I used to follow my grandma around in the kitchen being inquisitive.

My mom and I love to get together almost every year to bake and decorate cookies for our family and friends for the holidays. My mom has sold baked goods at craft shows. She also makes this yummy petite size banana bread which is one of my favorite sweet breads. Thanks to my mother, I learned the secret to her banana bread.

On my baking days, I get exhilarated because I am given an opportunity to utilize my creativity skills and sometimes I get encouraged by my clients to take my cakes to the next level. When I set out the ingredients on the counter that is where the magic begins. Love the sweet smell coming from the oven, flipping on the light switch, and watching my creation bake. I taste my smooth whipped velvety buttercream to make sure it meets my sweet expectations. I stand back in amazement of the finished product that I just created. Sometimes I just wonder how I got this talent. I pour my heart and soul into what I do. I believe art has no limits. I like to think outside of the box, challenge myself to create unique custom-made cakes, spread love by baking sweets and bless human beings. It is so rewarding! I enjoy seeing smiles on people’s faces when they receive their cakes or seeing my cake creations being shared on social media. It gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that I made their day. I want my pastries to leave you feeling special, true to yourself, loved and inspired.
